Name: Wednesday Warriors
Location: Good Games Melbourne (365 Lonsdale St, Melbourne)
Time: 12pm-1:30pm every Wednesday
Cost: Free
Army Size: 750 points

Let me introduce to you Wednesday Warriors, a lunchtime 40k meetup in Melbourne CBD. For all of you who aren't getting enough 40k in your week, this is an opportunity to squeeze in an extra game without impacting on your busy schedule.

If you are unfamiliar with the Good Games venue, let me assure you that it is excellent for our purposes. It's in the heart of the city, spacious, quite empty at lunchtime, and has 6'x4' boards with plenty of terrain - enough for 4-5 tables I reckon. Most importantly, the staff are always friendly and relaxed smile.gif I spoke to the owner and he was happy to have us use the space.

It's all very casual, just rock up with an army and find an opponent, or organise matchup on WAU to ensure a game. Or just come down to talk some 40k strategy and watch the pretty figurines fight.

The default game format is at 750 points with a modified force org of 1 HQ, 2-4 Troops, and 0-2 Elites/Fast Attack/Heavy Support. Defence Lines and Bastions only are allowed for Fortifications. Allies are not allowed. Missions are determined randomly from the book, but use 3 objectives rather than D3+2. Warlord traits are in, but mysterious terrain and objectives are out for simplicity.

Of course if you and your opponent agree you can play anything you like. These guidelines are intended to make it easy to quickly organise a game, and for those games to run in a short period of time.

Diceroller2 (Joel) and I (Marcus) have given the format a test run and took about 75 minutes from setting up the board to packing away (That was with armies of average size, not Orks or Guard). If you can take the occasional long lunch then why not come down and join us any Wednesday. Please post in this thread if you are coming down or have any questions...

Well, if we start to get a few people, why not come in for lunch and see if you can organise a meetup?

I think I'll definitely come down and take a look, ive dropped into GG before, but people generally seem to be running mtg. Their website lists a Tuesday night casual warhammer night, does that exist?

It is primarily a CCG place but quite empty during the day, it starts to fill mid afternoon.

I don't think there is much happening on Tuesday night but I'll ask them smile.gif

Tuesday night warhammer does exist sort of: 2 of my friends and I play through all of Tuesday testing out armies.

Wednesday sounds good though i lost my wednesdays off due to increased workload sad.gif and i don't work in the city.

Just an update to let you all know that Wednesday Warriors is on again tomorrow!

Last week we had one dude drop in (TheOracle I think?) bringing Dark Angels. One of us dropped out to make sure he got a game in. Happy to do this every time if we have odd numbers, so you are guaranteed a game smile.gif

So see you tomorrow at Good Games.

Just Joel and I this time. Still that's all we need to get a game of 40k in. On the bright side, I finally didn't lose with my Daemons smile.gif Apparently Fatewweaver sucks in 750 point games, because this was the first time I didn't take him.

Oh well, as per usual please post if you are interested in a game...

I sure will be smile.gif I brought my Deathguard out of retirement last week and they did well - will be rocking the same list.

Although its my turn to sit out if we have an uneven number... There are a couple of other possibles though.

Joel brought a workmate in last week who hasn't played since 2nd edition I think. He was going to see if he had his old models. So there might be four of us!

Yesterday we had 4 members in! Thats a first for the club. My Deathguard vs TheOracle's Dark Angels, which ended up as a bloody massacre from which I pulled out a win thanks to my Cultists not being harrassed. A new game started at 1pm, Orcs vs Salamanders I think.

So guys, do we want to change the official hours? I definately prefer 12-1:30 but can deal with other hours if I have to.

Whats our general feeling on quasi proxying? Like Dread as different weapons, or rhino as whirlwind?

No problems with proxying - go for it. Our first game had a dreadnought legs walking around with a quadgun on top.

Oh and the Orks smashed face over the sallies in the end.
The space marines couldn't run away fast enough with the Relic before they got caught! Plus the dakkajet was still flying around.
