I have put the remaining two commissions on hold until I can make some significant progress on a private project - I am making a game table for the Little Wars convention in Melbourne this May (25th). I originally started this a while ago and have returned to it now that the deadline is approaching (all too rapidly).
These were taken over the Christmas break... ![]() ![]() ![]() The plan is to make a section of Westminster Bridge over the Thames, together with the Embankment and some Victorian-style houses at the rear. The above photos give you an idea of the size of the bridge. The next few were taken just after Christmas. At that stage the plan was to do a 6' x 4' table - I've since scaled that back to 4' x 4' because I simply can't fit it in my car if it's any bigger: ![]() ![]() Fast forward a couple of months and now I am back 'on the job' ![]() The pieces in the above photo are just resting, which is why they're leaning a bit. I've done a little more work since this was taken and will post somne more photos later in the week to show how the Embankment is progressing. The minis are from Eureka Miniature's Pax Limpopo range - buy some, you know you want to, -------------------- |

What is it for? (As in system, RP, Game ect) Heheh, oh yeah! I should have mentioned it. The table can be used for several 28mm games really, but it is being specifically done for Pax Limpopo - a game currently under development by Eureka Miniatures, set during the mid-to-late 19th century. The design of the bridge would work equally well with Warmachine (the city of Caspia), Lord of the Rings (Osgiliath), Warhammer (Bretonnia), or even Cthulhu-esque pulp horror. There's no reason why we couldn't see Panzer IV's rolling across the bridge even. -------------------- |

It looks like a lot of fun to paint and muck around with them. aaron -------------------- If i dont say it to your face its because i think you are awesome and i am too shy to approach you about it....... but "thank you/can we grab a beer/do you want a game/i like you/you're cool"

Panzers!! Rolling across Westminster bridge!!!!
I'll have you know we had World War One Vetrans armed with shotguns and pitchforks. The Germans would have never gotten past Eastbourne!!! I was just imagining a thick pea-souper rolling in. A sudden scream. Maybe the ripper is about. Time for the Peelers to call for Mr.S.Holmes.... -------------------- Painting Vow Score = +83

I cleared away the distraction of the bridge and just put the Embankment sub-assembly on show.
![]() The overhead shot shows the overall layout of the embankment (ignore the pencil marks on the table surface, leftovers from an earlier plan). A couple of close-ups: ![]() Note that the steps will actually reach the top eventually. ![]() And the wharf, almost completed (scrounged from an earlier project that never amounted to anything). ![]() There will be a lot of floating detritus in the water and a steam boat as well (another person's contribution). Anyway, that's how it stands at present. -------------------- |

Looks like an incredibly complex project , its great to be able to see something like this in a diary, birth of a masterpiece type material.
Looking forward to seeing it progress. Oh and much love for those armoured penny farthings, definitely one of my favourite models ever. Such a dadist mix of steampunk, ww2 , daleks , the goodies, goldbergism and british comic book pulp. |

Been a busy boy on this lately and made some significant progress. The embankment is now glued down onto the table and the steps are in place. I still need to paint a few bits and plaster the lower wall, but structurally, this bit is done - just the fine detailing to do.
![]() "Psst, wanna buy some honey?" ![]() ![]() They're stairs aren't they? Ok, so how's he doing that? Like this... ![]() ![]() A clever idea called a "Doodad" (patent pending) - a device invented by Mad Uncle Andy (aka abbcampbell). Fits snugly onto the steps (upside down) and gives any model a stable platform upon which to stand - use two for larger bases. I made a master model and cast it in plaster, works a treat! Anyway, now its on to finish the bridge itself before moving to the second half of the table. -------------------- |

Things are starting to come together. Most of this lot is glued in place now and I'm working on finishing off the details and getting it painted. Hopefully, I'll start working on the second half of the board next week.
